BDC logo Agrimin Agrimin Ltd
Agrimin Ltd is a specialist UK manufacturer and distributor of sustained release mineral, trace element and vitamin boluses for ruminants. The Company has been marketing this patent protected range of nutritional supplements to farm supply companies and veterinary surgeons in the UK and through a network of distributors overseas since 1978.

New products have been developed with the help of Glasgow University Veterinary School and Agrimin have established themselves as leaders in their field gaining a reputation for technically advanced products backed by a high quality service.

Agrimin specialise in sustained release nutritional boluses for cattle and sheep. A bolus is similar to a large vitamin tablet and it is given to the animal orally. It then becomes lodged in the stomach of the animal (this technology only applies to ruminants) and starts to dissolve over an extended period (in some cases for up to 12 months) giving the animal a consistent supply of nutrients.

For dairy cattle, dry cows and youngstock this technology offers considerable advantages over the more traditional means of supplementing animals with certain nutrients. Boluses are labour-saving devices and are becoming valuable management tools for forward thinking dairy farmers in a number of markets.

Agrimin boluses deliver a range of nutrients such as trace elements, vitamins and minerals. We have developed products specifically for some export markets and are now exporting these products to over 20 countries including most of Europe, Australia and New Zealand.

Our unique method of accurately blending premixes to pharmaceutical quality ensures that a continually high quality product is manufactured at all times. Coupled with this, we operate GMP practices, HACCP and food safety procedures in conjunction with an established QC system to monitor production quality.

Growth of our ruminant business, particularly the dairy sector, has been driven by the technical expertise and understanding of the industry that has been provided by our team of qualified nutritionists. Services provided by our ruminant team include nutritional technical support to feed producers, consultants and dairy farmers, management advice, concentrate and complete ration formulation along with supplementation solutions that is complimented by our supply of quality vitamin and mineral premixes.

In addition to premixes our ruminant team are continually developing innovative nutritional solutions to some of the major performance and health problems facing the dairy industry. Examples of this include programmes that can encourage dry matter intake and feed utilisation by cows, which when combined can dramatically improve cow performance. Our continued focus on the three key areas of Performance, Health and Efficiency is allowing customers to maximise farm and herd profitability.

Premier Nutrition has also developed its own dairy model which allows the formulation and evaluation of dairy rations and includes the use of key nutrients such as Metabolisable amino acids, which help target milk yield and quality. The introduction of our Feed Efficiency programme further enhances our ability to encourage dairy farm performance, efficiency and profitability.
