Cogent Breeding Ltd was formed in 1995, and is a primarily Holstein breeding programme. Cogent test around 75 bulls per annum — looking to breed the kind of cows to suit large commercial dairying environments.
Cogent is also a technological leader, with the largest and longest standing production unit for Sexed Semen in the world, a product which we are now exporting to over 30 countries globally.
Cogent has very close ties with the 1,400 cows milked by Grosvenor Farms which have been a major part of our breeding programme for the last 10 years. The 1,400 cows are milked on 4 intensive units which demonstrate the genetics we are producing and how they perform in a commercial environment.
